The jerk of the plane rattled the passengers within and April found herself digging her nails into the arms of her seat. She'd been on planes countless of times as a kid with her dad, but at that moment she had never been more nervous before in her life. But not because of the flying itself.

April glanced to her left at her daughter. Magdalene was four years old, though she was already tall for her age and often mistaken for a few years older. Her copper hair shimmered with some blonde in the light from the plane's window that held her attention.

Maggie didn't pay any attention to her mother or anyone on the plane. It was her first time flying, and April never thought she would fully see the day where she could watch her daughter enjoy a flight.

The little girl stared outside at the clouds and the world below them. Maggie had watched the land go from city to country, country to beach, and now beach to complete water. Soon, their plane would be landing and the adventure would start all over again on their way home.

April tore her attention from her daughter and to her husband next to her. Donatello had fallen asleep with a brochure in his hand. Even in his human form, everything about the way he slept reminded her of how he was without his disguise.

Where April panicked at the airport through security and on the plane during their whole trip, Donatello was calmer than the still oceans surrounding the Caribbean. She didn't understand how he was so sure of himself and his invention out in public, but the way he acted was as though he had been human all his life.

April glanced at the brochure in his hand: Island Safari and Family Fun in the Caribbean! She had read it forward and backwards to where she was sure she could recite every paragraph by memory. Were they really doing this?

The whole trip gave April such a bad taste in her mouth. Where Maggie and Donnie were beyond excited, she couldn't even bring herself to feel even remotely happy. What was there to be so worked up over, though? Here was her husband who not only invented a machine that allows him and his brothers to disguise themselves as humans and walk among the rest of the world, here was her husband treating her and Maggie to a tropical vacation at a beautiful resort in the Caribbean. If anything, April knew she should be grateful.

April looked away and up at the light fixture above their heads, her fingers digging even deeper into the armrest to where her knuckles turned white. April knew she should be grateful...so why did she feel so scared?
TMNT-Disaster in Paradise: Chapter 1April sliced at the carrot she gingerly held to the wood she used to cut vegetables on. Her hair blew a tad from the breeze of the wind that snuck through an open window. Soon, it would be autumn and too cold to keep the window open.
It was one of those quiet days in the house she and Donnie owned. It amazed her that it had been six years since they had fallen in love, five of those spent as parents...
She was now twenty-four years old, and she had been working for years towards her goal of one day being a journalist for the world of scientist. It was a struggle, but she knew with the support of her family, friends, and daughter, one day that goal would become a reality.
April finished cutting the carrot and brushed it into a pile for the stew she was making. She wiped at her brow as she heard footsteps walk into the room and smiled, recognizing the familiar stride of her husband.
April opened a cupboard to reveal a stack of plates and cups. "Hey, honey, dinner is almost done," she sai
TMNT-Disaster in Paradise: Chapter 2In one swift move, the man was in front of April and she reacted as fast as he had rushed to her. She slashed at his arm, drawing blood but he knocked the blade out of her hand and grabbed her wrists.
"Let me go, you creep! DONNIE! SOMEONE! HEL-"
Her mouth was covered by the man's large hand and he proceeded to gently shush her. If it hadn't been for his silky, familiar voice, she knew the shushing would have greatly ticked her off.
"April, calm down it's me. Hold on a sec..." The man let go over her wrists and messed with a wrist watch like device on his wrist and he faded from a fleshy pink to an unusual shade of green. April stopped struggling and stared at the man before her, her mouth hanging open at the slightest.
"Donnie?"

Perhaps he had gone over the story at the least five times, but April still couldn't grasp it. And turning to her brothers-in-law, she can tell it was as hard for them to grasp as it was for her.
"So, wait, the watch makes you human?"
Donatello sighed, but
